Removing a page

BE AWARE that removing a page seems to result in the menu item it was linked from being removed also! No idea why as by default when a new menu item is created it shows the 'default homepage' content so surely this should be the case if any pages are deleted.

"BE AWARE that removing a page seems to result in the menu item it was linked from being removed also!"
This is only logical, otherwise you'd have menu items linked to "page not found" messages. It's a good safety to have.

I had a same thoughts. Is it possible to hide certain pages to non registred users or to hide some pages to another group members?
We often run short term competitions in writing and it's a team based share activity. We found this popular among kids. Thank you.

I have created several Web Pages in phpws that allow anonymous users to posts comments. Unfortunately, I have come across several posts that I need to delete, however I can't. Even while logged in as a diety, I am unable to delete any posts, even my own. When I select the "delete" option I am sent to a blank page. Any thoughts?

I would like to create a new template for pagemaster that allows uploading of 9 pictures along with the text area stuff.
Can you direct me to specific directions somewhere to accomplish this?
or, can you point me to the correct file to edit in my theme?

I have noted this site uses to insert an external website page.
Looking at the source code I noticed the following snippet.
Sorry! Your browser cannot display the page here."

Since I can see the displayed on this website, I'm curious as to why I could not see the same when pasting the code into a page on my own installation. (Using 9x). Is there some step that I'm missing?

look there
../mod/pagemaster/docs]# vi PAGE_INSERT_README.txt
.......
After installing the templates in the theme(s) you wish to have the
page insertion capability, insert a page this way:
1. Log in as a user with PageMaster access. Select PageMaster.
2. Create a new page. Give it a title.
3. Edit the page.
a. In the first section, select one of the three page_insert templates ......
page_insert_fit_block.tpl - This template inserts the page into the largest
possible scrolling area that will fit within the current-sized pagemaste
r
block.
............
1. Log in as a user with PageMaster access. Select PageMaster.
2. Create a new page. Give it a title.
3. Edit the page.
a. In the first section, select one of the three page_insert templates
from the drop-down template menu.
b. If you chose page_insert_title_is_size, enter the height you want
for the scrolling page display in the Section Subtitle blank. For
example, to display the page in a scrolling area 500 pixels high,
enter 500 in the Subtitle blank.
c. Enter the URL of the page you want inserted as the text of the
section. The URL can be a full URL (i.e., http://mysite.com) or
a relative link to a file on your site (e.g., downloads/cool.html).
4. Save the section and the page.
So, now you have to create a full website with your flash insite.

Remove "updated by"

May people seem to want to get rid of the created, updated, and print sections at the bottom of the pagemaster pages.
To do so, delete the relevant lines in mod/pagemaster/templates/page/default.tpl
Google Ads!!!
Posted on: 04/16/2005 05:24 PM

Lord above this has been a lot of hard work.
I have been trying for two days now to have some google ads in a bloody block on the side of my phpwebsite page. I have read lots of stupid articles telling non-computer literate people to remove and the lot. I have even tried it myself. I once managed to get ads in a block and they weren't even the size that I had asked for!!
Well here is a simple solution that I hope will satisfy lots of people.
Simply create a new template (based on which ever one you like). You can find the templates at /mod/pagemaster/templates/
Simply insert your google code where you like with the formatting YOU like and use that template for one section in a page you publish.
I have a template called google.tpl and it looks like follows; (tried poasting the code but obviously it got stripped!!!!!!!)
It works fine for me and displays google ad's amongst my articles, which is just where I want them.
You can see a working version at www.thaiconnections.co.uk (although it's a new site).
For everyone that is having problems please feel free to contact me at my site (email is at bottom of the page). I will be happy to help.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Other people adding pages

I have set up a group and assigned permissions to everything in the web page mod, and tried the same for a specific user. However, when I log in as that user, rather than my deity user, I cannot see any way to generate a new web-page. The control panel for the user has only personal info on it, and no tab to contain the web page link.
Do I have to create a menu item to duplicate the create page link?

Restricted Access

Has anybody had any luck getting answers on the restricted accesses questions that were asked earlier.
Specificially -
- How to restrict a user to editing a signle page. I want to make 'home' pages available to a limited number of people but don't want them to be able to edit the main pages.
- How to restrict viewing to logged-on users. We have membership lists we'd like to make available to registered users, but don't want the whole world to have access.
Thank you,

I have a footer on each page of my web site that has copyright and contact info. Do not know how to edit it as I did not design the original layout of the site. A webmaster did the basic layout and showed me how to add content but not how to do this change. Any ideas? See my website at www.cancunpropertiesonline.com
Thanks
